I last posted about these after the first glove was finished. At that time I noted that there was a dropped stitch I needed to fix, and that the little finger was too long and needed shortened.

Then
Now

I didn’t do either of those things. I finished the second glove, and I started wearing them. For a couple of weeks they sat in a bag, waiting for repairs. Waiting for a wash and block. Waiting for them to be perfect for a photo shoot. Waiting! Despite it being December and my hands being cold!

One day I realised this was nonsense, and skipped all that stuff and started wearing them. Yes, there’s a dropped stitch, and the fingers are uneven. They’re already getting fuzzy (and maybe even a bit felty?) from wear and being balled up in my pocket. They have hairs and pocket dust on them, and the tops of the fingers curl back. And they keep my hands warm. That’s what they’re for, after all, and they’re good at it.

They still need to be washed (don’t judge me!) and perhaps that will change how they look, even out the ribbing and the stitches. But ultimately, I made them to be worn, and I did a pretty decent job of it.

I often let perfect be the enemy of good, to the point of doing myself a disservice (like having cold hands). Something to think about. It’s better to have real gloves that are good than imaginary gloves that are perfect, right?

I’ve added this post to the Unraveled Wednesday linkup, with thanks to Kat for hosting.

Good for you! They look perfectly fine to me. A good wash will only improve them. 😉

Yes, I’ll schedule that in one of these days!

How often do we all let perfection overtake good… (for me it is far too often!) Your gloves look practical and perfect to me!

      Far, FAR too often!

Very much better. All gloves eventually conform to the hands of the wearer, so washing and adjusting may just be counter productive. Glad you finished them. They look great.

Thanks! And great point about trying to block them, they’ll just pop right back to the shape of my hands when I put them on!

Well said, and yes, I’ve been guilty of making perfectionism the downfall of my FOs too–changing is hard, but not impossible. Your gloves look great to me–the signs of wear makes them look even cozier. :)

They looked well-loved from day one 😁

They look great to me, plus who looks in detail at what’s on someone’s hand. Perhaps a hat or a jumper I’d worry about mistakes but socks and mittens or gloves I’m not fussed.

So true, that would be weird 😂

Awesome gloves, look like they work to me. Nice healthy nails too!

Yes I’m so lucky with my nails! I do nothing to them!

Your gloves look great, and more importantly they look cozy and warm!

Thank you, they are very cosy especially considering the lack of fingers!

Its amazing how much fingerless gloves help with keeping your hands warm!
