I last posted about these after the first glove was finished. At that time I noted that there was a dropped stitch I needed to fix, and that the little finger was too long and needed shortened.

I didn’t do either of those things. I finished the second glove, and I started wearing them. For a couple of weeks they sat in a bag, waiting for repairs. Waiting for a wash and block. Waiting for them to be perfect for a photo shoot. Waiting! Despite it being December and my hands being cold!
One day I realised this was nonsense, and skipped all that stuff and started wearing them. Yes, there’s a dropped stitch, and the fingers are uneven. They’re already getting fuzzy (and maybe even a bit felty?) from wear and being balled up in my pocket. They have hairs and pocket dust on them, and the tops of the fingers curl back. And they keep my hands warm. That’s what they’re for, after all, and they’re good at it.

They still need to be washed (don’t judge me!) and perhaps that will change how they look, even out the ribbing and the stitches. But ultimately, I made them to be worn, and I did a pretty decent job of it.
I often let perfect be the enemy of good, to the point of doing myself a disservice (like having cold hands). Something to think about. It’s better to have real gloves that are good than imaginary gloves that are perfect, right?
I’ve added this post to the Unraveled Wednesday linkup, with thanks to Kat for hosting.
