I’ve named this post for two reasons:

  1. This scarf was made as a palate cleanser, after my WiPs left a bad taste in my mouth (or in my brain?)
  2. The orange yarn reminded me of Irn Bru sorbet. If you don’t know what Irn Bru is… well, now’s not the time to sermonise on its wonder. It’s a bright orange fizzy drink.

Made exactly the same as last year’s batch of bias scarves, this used up odds and ends of yarn and will be donated. It’s DK held double, and on 6.5mm needles. Cast on 30 and away we go.

I feel a bit conflicted, in that I wouldn’t have put these colours together for myself – but it’s certainly soft and will keep someone warm.

I’m going to donate some other yarn from stash, which takes me down to a mere 1.6kg!

Except that’s an outright lie because not only did I buy yarn for the Black Cat Sweater, I also made some lovely purchases when I was visiting Bristol last month. Blog post to come!

But it does mean there’s much less yarn in my stash without a known purpose. Which is a great improvement on where I was two years ago, with 10kg of yarn and no real idea what to do with it all. Well done me.

That’s such a lovely-looking scarf! A fine yarn buster project too. I love the color combo, actually. :) Well done on continuing to reduce your stash! Makes me wonder what I’ll do with mine, hehe…

I also love a marl – it’s always greater than the sum of its parts.

I think the color combinations are mighty fine. This scarf will look good with almost any neutral colored coat.

Love the colors of your scarf. Congrats on your stash. I almost always have a project in mind when I buy yarn. Sadly, I hardly ever actually knit that project.

I try to only buy for a project but if I don’t cast it on straight away… chances are something different is going to happen with that yarn.

Thank you! Just needed a simple buffer between more complex projects 😄

The scarf colours feel very autumnal so seem perfect for right now. Well done on reducing your stash and continuing to make donations. I have taken some items to the local Red Cross shop but never sure what happens next to them. Is there a specific charity you pass them to and know they’ll be used?

      That’s true about the colours!

Yes, my colleague works with a street team in Glasgow and hands them out to homeless folks – often she’ll have a person in mind for each item. So I know they don’t sit in a stock room, they’re straight out to someone who can use them.

Well done you for sure! It is lovely and – as highlandheffalump says – autumnal :) It will keep someone cozy and removes some extra yarn from your stash!
