I have reached the end of the first, and bigger, lace section! I added a couple of extra repeats to it. Honestly, it hasn’t seemed arduous, but it’s been a while since I had a project that necessitated multiple posts like this.

The next part is 50-odd sets of stripes, twice as many as the first section. That took me ten days, so we could be looking at several more weeks to completion! I’ve made a start though.
I prefer stockinette to garter, and I feel like that’s unusual. Show of hands?
It’s a reasonably good travel project, which I thought would be useful cos I’ve been on a work trip. Some good train time and airport waiting time in there, I assumed. In reality, at time of writing (Saturday night), I haven’t added a single stitch and have just been carrying it around…

I’ve always had good luck taking my knitting on planes – my method is to unscrew the tips from the circulars and put them in with my pens (I carry a significant number of pens). I don’t know if that’s actually necessary, but it’s always worked just fine in avoiding anyone looking through my suitcase.
I once had someone look through my suitcase because I had a jar of fancy salt, and they couldn’t tell from the scanner if it was liquid or solid. That was fun.
Then there was the time I had actual scissors in my case and felt a total idiot. The airport person was very nice about it. So long, yellow IKEA scissors, we hardly knew ye.
Anyway – we got off topic there. This is the Lilli Pilli Wrap (Ravelry link) by Ambah O’Brien (Designer’s site). I hope to have more progress, and better photos, on my next update!
