After The Great Unravelling of my Light of the Valkyrie, I was left with a jumper amount of self-striping yarn and two balls of various complementary colours magic-knotted together.

What to do with them?

I went looking and found Leonida Sweater (Ravelry link) by Beach House Knits (Designer’s site). What precisely I was looking *for* is lost to the mists of time, but this seemed the ideal pattern to repurpose all that yarn. It’s sky-themed, like Light of the Valkyrie, and had a new technique for me – bobbles!

Those bobbles came out somewhat irregular, in part due to inexperience and in part due to varying thicknesses of yarn. They were fun and certainly add texture! The meteor pattern overall is more subtle than if I’d used a solid colour, but I don’t mind that. You don’t always get to see the full glory of a meteor shower, or indeed the northern lights, especially when you live in a city, so this jumper can be testament to that.

Northern lights in knitted form?

The pattern is nice to work and I didn’t find it hard to follow. I like the long stretch of ribbing on the body and the wider neck. I had to block the heck out of it to get the shape, but it went willingly enough. It could easily be made longer in the body, if that’s your preference.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit me. I made it too small. So… with a slightly heavy heart this time, once more we’re off to the donation pile.

I’ve added this post to the Unraveled Wednesday linkup, with thanks to Kat for hosting.
