It is very much looking like a real garment now! I will confess that we have reached the ‘it will never be done’ phase. You know, where you look at it and think ‘this is staying the same size no matter how much knitting I do and I will have to knit it for all eternity’?
This is, of course, nonsense. I’ve made most of a sweater in a week and a half – that’s a pretty good pace. I’ve tried it on to establish how much more length I want and, at time of writing, I need six more inches on the body and nine on the sleeves. The last inch of each will be plain purple, and the three inches of sleeve once the body is done will be nice and quick since they’re so small.

Then I just have to reckon with the seams and sew in a very few ends, and we’re done! There’s another couple of weeks work in it, if I’m not much mistaken.
As an aside from this project, I took it into my head to catalogue my yarn on new year’s eve – I got most of it done that afternoon, and finished up on new year’s day. Friends, I have over 9kg in my stash. This is excessive. When I think of the fact that the sweater I’m making now will only use about 600g of yarn it makes me feel a bit overwhelmed. Like… should I just make 15 Sea Glass in this size and that’ll be my project for the year?

Actually that’s helped a little. 15 sweaters is only a few years’ work based on last year’s rate of making. Perhaps it’s possible to use it all up in my lifetime after all… Though with that said I haven’t counted the yarns in this project bag and as you can from the pic above, some will definitely be going back in to stash!
