I decided to go ahead and cast on some mitts to match my Topographical Scarf. It was a last minute, ‘I’m going for a train NOW and need some knitting’ decision, and my project bag was still to hand so in the handbag it went.
I worked on them for a couple of hours before realising that I just wasn’t into the way I’d put the colours together. The mid-green is lovely and soft, but not my fave of the bunch. Plus the variegated wasn’t getting a chance to shine as the line colour. So out it all came!

Another three-ish hours of work and I was done with the bulk of the first one, and much happier with the result. I think it needs the grey/blue to lift it. A bit like adding citrus to cooking, you know? The analogy makes sense to me, anyway.

I was hoping to have enough of the lime green to do both thumbs, since there was only a scrap left, but the thumbs are more complicated than I expected! So I’ve done half (I guessed at the half way mark and think I got it about right) of one, making the rest in the variegated yarn, and we’ll see how I get on with the second one.

As I always say to others, a mismatched pair has more character anyway.

I’ve added this post to the Unraveled Wednesday linkup, with thanks to Kat for hosting.
