As you may have seen in an earlier post, my sister and I have taken a table at a craft fair, which is *this Friday*(!). So I’m feeling a number of feelings, including oscillating between ‘I have some nice items to put out’ and ‘I’m woefully underprepared’. Perhaps those are more thoughts than feelings but I’m sure you understand.

I decided last week to make another octopus and see if it sold. It’s a fairly quick make but as it stands I shall have to get a shift on if I want it finished, washed, stuffed and ready for Friday evening. This time I’m using a 2mm crochet hook (which I nearly lost to the recesses of an armchair at the weekend – cue much ‘I can feel it in there but I’m only pushing it further in’ action) and Scheepjes Cotton 8, a fingering weight yarn. Finally, I’m following the pattern recommendation and not just throwing DK at it (or chunkier yarn, which resulted in Darren).

I bought the yarn as a kit and used some of it to make two different blankets. This octopus is bringing me closer to finishing my stash of this particular yarn – I think I might get another octopus out of it too, though the next one may not have such even distribution of colours since I have a LOT of the pink and a very little of the yellow… But I think there will be someone out there who would just love a pink and grey octo friend.

Anyway it’s a win all round, using stash is always an achievement. And if I can use stash for profit, all to the good! Though let’s be fair, I’m liable to spend any profit immediately at someone else’s table. Shop local, you know?
I’ve added this post to the Unraveled Wednesday linkup, with thanks to Kat for hosting.
