My scarf is coming on in leaps and bounds (or rows and… flows…?). This is especially true when one considers that I put it aside for a few days to work on my Doctor Who scarf, and also to start another African Flower Octopus to be put up for sale at the upcoming craft fair.
I’ve nearly finished nine of the ten coloured stripes, one more of those then the edging to go! And that edge is just four rows of garter stitch.

My handmade stitch markers are helping me keep track and making me feel happy in the process. Using a thing you’ve made yourself is so satisfying, isn’t it? I did drop one on the train so that’s lost forever. No amount of standing up to check the seat, then sitting down to squint at the floor helped me find it. I had to stop in case my fellow travellers thought I was doing some kind of callisthenics and joined in.
I’ve woven in most of the ends as I’ve gone along, though I do have a few that were forgotten, or created by cutting the yarn. Both the dark green and the khaki yarns had to be snipped and rejoined at one point – I forget why, probably a knot in the yarn that was too big to hide on the reverse.

Once I’m finished with the scarf, I’m going to use the remaining yarn in these colours to make mitts (Ravelry link) or a hat (Ravelry link) from the same designer. Do you think all three would be too matchy-matchy? I think it might be. Maybe if I swap the colours round so the main is a stripe instead that’ll mix things up sufficiently.
I don’t want to put any of these yarns back into stash, not even into the scraps jar, if I can help it. Equally though, I have no idea at present if there will be enough of them to make the next item. I’ll weigh the yarns up when I’m done here and we’ll see – it looks like the hat only needs 80g in total so I hope it all works out!

As a reminder, this is the Topographical Scarf (Ravelry link) by MarinJa Knits (Designer’s site). I’ve added this post to the Unraveled Wednesday linkup, with thanks to Kat for hosting.
