I love the photos of the Divergence pattern (Ravelry link) by ChristalLK (Designer’s site). The colours, the drape, the unusual shape – love it!
I’ve tried to knit it twice, and failed both times.

For what reason is my knitting this peculiar shape?
It should be a big triangle, like a ship’s sail. A bit curvy on the side, sure, but still essentially a triangle. This… this is not what I was expecting.
The pattern uses short rows to make the wedge shapes. It was my first time with short rows so after a bit more experience with them, I thought ‘I must have done something wrong, I’ll try it again’.
I still did something wrong. I really don’t know what! Does anyone have any ideas? I’m a bit of a tight knitter but this is ludicrous.

It was used for a while, after the first knit, as a lap blanket when I worked in a particularly cold office. But since I ripped it out and knitted it again, it’s mostly hung on the hat stand. I don’t have any appetite for wearing it. It mocks me with its shape!
I really love the colours in the pattern pics too, and I kept very close to them. I loved the tweedy main colour, which was a chance purchase. It has tons of fun colours and is fine to work with, despite being fuzzy. Plus the base yarn is black and white wound round each other, which is kind of a cool zebra vibe under all the bright puffs.
It came from Flying Tiger (when it was still just called Tiger) and as I recall it was labelled simply ‘Garn – Yarn’. Ravelry thinks it’s worsted but I’d say it’s more a light DK.

Could I face ripping it all out again to reuse all the pretty colours? Not immediately, but one day perhaps. Perhaps.
