Part One | Part Two | Part Three

After lo these many months, the knit on this project is done.

And… I don’t like it.

I started it on 13 December which is just shy of five months ago. It got sidelined a *lot* in favour of other projects. It sat for at least a week when all I needed to do was finish the shoulder seam, a job that took minutes to do!

In my first two photos my face was like thunder, this is an improvement

The neckline is a problem. I knew it would be but hoped it wouldn’t? But I vastly prefer a shaped neckline, rather than the straight one we have here. It also looks unfinished (because it is). Both of these things could be improved with a bit of picking up and knitting, I dare say.

The length… again, I knew it was short. At the last ‘try on’ (in quote marks because it was only seamed up one side so I was really just holding it round me) I thought it hit a nice enough length, but now I feel differently. It’s not only the length but the lack of drape – I feel like it’s hanging all at sixes and sevens. Perhaps because I got really distracted when I was doing  the first side seam…

In other news, I think my bum looks great

But listen, before I continue to moan about it: it hasn’t been washed and blocked. I feel like blocking magic isn’t going to extend far enough to reaolve the ill-will between us but I should give it a chance, at least.

I also fully admit that I’m in a bit of a funk today which will be colouring my perception of the whole affair. While there have been no big dramas or changes, the family situation remains challenging and I feel blue about it. Not every day, but today for sure.

So a wash and block, and a good night’s sleep for me (is that the human equivalent of blocking?!) and perhaps I’ll feel differently tomorrow.

Note: I took the photos after writing this post, and it looks better than it feels, which has helped me get perspective. Also I made myself a bit chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream and that helped, too.

I hope the blocking improves things. I love the idea of sleeping being the human equivalent! The hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows sounds like a good move too. 😋

We must prioritise self care, and sometimes that comes in hot chocolate form!

It’s lovely! (and I love your self care… chocolate, marshmallows, and whipping cream cure just about everything!)

It was a nice moment of realising ‘oh I can just do that for myself right now!’.

I really hope the blocking can fix some of the issues for you. 🙂
