It was another wee pal’s birthday and when I asked his mum (also my pal) if he would like anything knitted, she wondered if I could make a Poké Ball as he’s super duper into Pokémon.
I was extremely confident and said that would be no trouble at all! I was giddy with confidence after recent successful amigurumi expeditions.
I surveyed a few patterns, decided I could modify them to make my own, and promptly made an egg.

I undid the egg, read those patterns again more carefully, and had another go! The general rule of thumb turns out to be increasing six times per row till it’s the right size, work the same number of rows plain, then work the same number again with six decreases.
I had to play about a bit as all the yarns were slightly different weights, but I got there in the end.

Still a bit wonky to my adult eyes, bit the recipient loved it. He even took it to bed that night, which we all know is the greatest compliment such a gift can receive.
