Part One

I have completed another octopus! They’re so lovable, and this one is no exception…

… except I’ve placed the eyes as recommended by the pattern, and I think he looks quite stern? I usually place them closer together. It’s certainly less cartoony and more like an actual octopus.

I decided to make the feet different colours instead of neutral and I’m pleased with the results. I don’t think it’s obvious what the colour scheme is (the classic Doctor Who scarf) but I do think it looks great. And sometimes it’s nice to have subtlety in our geekery.

With apologies to the doctorpus for the indignity, here’s the underside which I did make partly neutral since you don’t see it anyway.

Making the shapes smaller and not so flowery has worked really well, both in making it quicker and in how it looks. Good choices!

Not a flower but still a lovely hexagon

I used DK cotton from Hello Crafts and a 2.5mm needle. I bought six colours in their petite ball size. Each is 25g and the shapes used these amounts:

High Risk Red – approx 16g (I used the rest in another project and forgot to weigh it first)

Silver Fox – 15g

Blackberry (Purple) – 16g

Hay (Yellow) – 14g

Walnut (Brown) – 16g

Forest Floor – 12g

Sand – 57g

I adapted the usual pattern, which is Octavius the African Flower Octopus (Ravelry link) by LineandLoops (Etsy link).

Previous octo-adventures are: the rainbow one, the giant one, the pastel one and another pastel one.

They contribute to the cuteness. They’ll grow on you, I hope. :)
