I bought two kits from Hello Crafts the other week. You’ve already seen the Loopy Giraffe, who was a delight to make. The Amber Fox (link to Hello Crafts) was equally lovely to make and is still only £4 which is a steal. 

The kit has everything, including crochet hook, solitary stitch marker, and generous amounts of the cotton yarn. The paper pattern is clear, credits the designer, and I didn’t have any trouble following it except that when it comes to crochet I can’t count? Not a fault of the pattern, the sums all add up, and I’ve come to accept it about myself.

His little arms get attached with crochet stitches as part of the body, which I really liked. One of them is stuck in a wave, which is presumably to do with being crocheted on too tight or too loose but, whatever the reason, I think it’s sweet.

I didn’t try and copy the eyes (the hardest part of any project), and I didn’t give him little white speckles on his head either. I just couldn’t get them to look the same as the picture and he was just fine without them. Also his bib is kind of the opposite shape to the one in the picture – long at the sides and short in the middle – but I let it be what it wanted to be. Is this mindfulness?

I’ve had a great time with these kits and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. And I spent my own money on them too, I’m in no way affiliated with them. The fact that I’ve posted about their products three times in the last month is down to genuine enthusiasm.

As you can tell from my photos, I’m still embracing the ‘get it done’ approach over the ‘make it perfect’ tendency I’ve always had. The wee fox will now be shipped of to his new home, where I’m sure he’ll be very welcome.
