As you can see, my blanket now looks square and not round, which is almost certainly a good sign. I still haven’t taken any great pictures but I did muster up the energy to take a snap on the table instead of just on the sofa next to me, so that’s something. This shows the colour better (though still imperfectly):

I am right at the end of the first chart and, coincidentally, at the end of the first skein, too. You can just about see that the trees are growing second branches – you can make it out best on the tree pointing straight down in the pic above, or contrariwise the one pointing straight up in the pic below. See how the trunk has thickened and is angling outwards? Dead giveaway.

I’m still happy with those YOs. Yes, they are visible, but they’re even and look intentional. There are a few that have a little wobble about them but then that’s trees for you, isn’t it?
The pics so far show the work spread out onto a long cable, and flattened. When left to its own devices, on the cable I’m using, it looks very much like a rustic pixie’s hat.

Like… a really rustic pixie.
A number of other makers have had trouble with the middle poking but honestly I think this will flatten out just fine when it’s bigger, and a bit of blocking will seal the deal.
This is (well, will be) the Olympic Forest Baby Blanket (Ravelry link) by Verybusymonkey Designs (Designerโs site). I’m knitting it in Drops Merino Extra Fine.
