I made a promenade blouse in black and white a couple of years back, and while I liked it initially, I found that the slightly shorter length wasn’t enjoyable for me to wear. So it was gifted to a friend, and I’m making another!

This was only hung up lopsided – I assure you that the knit was symmetrical

I had Papatya Love DK left over from the Cardigan of Theseus, and some Katia lace from a trip to Bordeaux a looooong time ago. I had bought six skeins as a souvenir, and it turned out the yardage was immense – at the time I didn’t really understand about yardage. I’ve used these yarns together before, to make As If

Right now, I’ve split for the sleeves and have one full skein of each yarn left. The question is: do I have *enough* left for a whlole jumper? With full length sleeves? Truthfully, I have no idea. On one hand, looking at the yardage I needed to make the last one, it seems like I have more than enough, even taking into account full sleeves and more length. On the other, looking at it with my eyes, it seems like such a small amount of yarn that it can’t possibly be enough. So it’s one of those times where I’m just going to try it and see what happens.

Surely that’s not enough yarn for a jumper… OR IS IT?

If all else fails, I’ll have to unravel As If to top it up… which doesn’t upset me that much, it doesn’t see much wear.  If I do that, though, I’m going to want to use all of that reclaimed yarn. Maybe I’ll just keep knitting till I run out, even if the sleeves end up being knee length?

When the stripes are this nice, is there such a thing as too long? No!

I am hoping those yarns have just enough for the right length! (and stripes are so fun to knit!!)

      I hope so as well – but if not, at least there’s a plan B! And actually a half-formed plan C, too…

Nice pattern, soothing knit, I’m betting. One question: At what location on the blouse do you strand the un-used yarn?

That’s a great question, and I had initially intended to do that in the middle of the back – but the way the pattern goes (or at least the way I’ve followed it), there’s ended up being a ‘seam’ on the back of one of the shoulders, cos you hold stitches for the first sleeve right from the BOR marker. I’m twisting the unused yarn as I go and it’s definitely leaving a noticable join, but I feel like I can block it out… (famous last words). And for the rest of the body, the BOR will be under one arm, so yarn will be stranded up the side. Last time I made it, I wove the ends in so beautifully you couldn’t even see them. But this itme I wanted to save all the yarn I could, so didn’t break it and leave tails. May yet prove to be a mistake!

I love the Prominade blouse. I’ve knit 3! One has LOTS of ease so very blousy. My most recent is zero ease. I did knit it with one skein of yarn and one of mohair but it was fingering weight so more yardage?? It’s hip length with 3/4 sleeves but I’m also rather short.

I’m not tall, but I like a long jumper! And a full length sleeve. The yardage on the DK is 360 per skein, and I had one and a bit… If I run out then you know what they say – necessity is the mother of invention ๐Ÿ˜

It was your blog I saw it on in the first place, I’d forgotten that!

Love the two colors together so much!! A tall jumper would be really nice, I hope the yardage works out.

Thank you, I hope so too! I expect it’ll go from ‘loads left’ to ‘not enough’ in the blink of an eye ๐Ÿ˜
