Big news – my sister opened an Etsy shop! It’s called Rainy Day Crafts named after the ‘rainy day box’ that our mum would bring out when we were little, which was all full of crafting supplies.

I haven’t done anything whatsoever, including providing any stock, so everything you see is her hard work. She makes fun and pretty resin jewellery, and embroiders too (though those are all sold out at this time).

She’s also made an advent calendar so you can see lots of her lovely work right there.

So she’s over there starting her empire, whereas I’m over here getting suckered by Aldi.

Maybe you’ve done this too? I literally went in for a bag of walnuts and I left with a bottle of fizzy juice, two boxes of chocolates, a candle, and a vanity organiser. Oh, and the walnuts.

I picked up the organiser to store my jewellery crafting stash. It wasn’t in a *terrible* way… but it wasn’t great. Storage creep had started to happen, with bits and pieces hiding in drawers instead of with their fellow supplies. There were many boxes to hunt through when looking for something.

What you can’t see is the boxes behind these other boxes…
Plus there were these boxes too

Two hours of work later, and I’d gone from this:

…to this:

I emptied out six boxes, several tubs, and countless zip lock bags. So many that I had to reorganise my ‘tiny boxes and bags’ drawer to fit them all in.

While I still have three big segmented plastic boxes, absolutely full of stuff, I changed their organisational strategy from ‘same things together’ to ‘things I will use together’. So now there’s one box with the makings of shawl pins, and one with the makings of stitch markers, as well as one full of beads.

I particularly enjoyed looking at the finished shawl pins box. The criss cross of the pins is very pleasing to me.

A place for everything

That turned out great to hold things and it’s always great when you free up space.

      I will pass that along!

It took me much longer than I expected but a good end result.

I really like the origin of the store’s name. :-) Good luck to your sister!

Love your organized stash! (I’d love to see more of your jewelry projects too!) Did you end up throwing away anything? I found I needed to do that with my paper crafting stash, since there were a few items I’d not felt like using in years, and probably won’t in the future either. It’s not that easy to do that with my jewelry crafting stash, though. :-)

      It’s a cute story, isn’t it?

I threw away very few things, a couple of experimental or practice things went in the bin but overall I kept the lot. There are certainly things I’m not planning on using in the short term but you never know when I’ll drift back around to them!
