Does it look much different? On looking at the photos I think so – given that it’s now wider than the coffee table there must have been some growth! I feel like I’ve hardly worked on it at all. We had a weekend of visitors and outings, so not much time for knitting. Which is a challenge when one is working to a Christmas deadline.
This is my final week at work before taking a three week break, and boy am I ready for it! That also means I’m less concerned about any lack of progress this week, since next week I have nothing but free time to devote to it.

I love the colours of my stitch markers against the purple and blue section of the yarn so much. They complement each other beautifully. Unfortunately, the finer jump rings aren’t up to the challenge of being continually passed back and forth – but no harm done, only a couple of tiny tangles when the yarn tucked itself into the gap in the ring. All solvable.
I’ll tell you what I have finished though: an accompanying shawl pin. My mum also asked for one of these, though when asked to choose which charms she’d like, she said only ‘You know what kind of things I like. Not the skulls. Or the bats. You choose.’ I thought birds and feathers were thematically appropriate, and who doesn’t like a wee star or two?

If this is the first of these posts you’ve read, this is Wingspan (Ravelry link) by VectorKnits (Designer’s site). I’m knitting it in Scheepjes Whirl (Scheepjes website) in Blackcurrant Squeeze Me.
I’ve added this post to the Unraveled Wednesday linkup, with thanks to Kat for hosting.
