I mean would you LOOK at that wee guy?

He’s Octavius the African Flower Octopus (Ravelry link) by LineandLoops (Etsy link). He’s bigger than he’s meant to be because I insisted on using DK yarn instead of light fingering, and I love everything about him.

He was made as a housewarming gift so he went off to live with some pals, but I think of him often. I keep intending to make a cousin for him in black and greys (a gothtopus, if you will) but, as is often the way, keep getting distracted.

He needed 500g of stuffing, and I used black, wooden buttons for his eyes. I was very particular that they shouldn’t have a ridge round the edge and looked at a surprising number of buttons before purchasing.

They’re positioned a bit differently from the pattern – I liked his expression better this way. It’s a personal thing, the expression on an octopus’ face.

I sent this pic in a ‘creepiness factor check’ text. It was confirmed that he was not creepy.

Somewhat related, I have also made an octo-jumper – Embrace Octopus Sweater (Ravelry link) by Maia E Sirnes (Etsy link)

And bought myself an octo-ring from Vicious Malicious:

Sometimes a theme happens without you realising, right?

I know, it’s so cool, just the right amount of weird.
