Listen, I had fully intended to do a proper review of this kit and then completely lacked the discipline. I was too excited to get making – and I made the giraffe in just one day, over about seven hours.

I definitely lost count of things repeatedly and had to fudge the numbers a bit… but I enjoyed the experience of just going hell for leather on a project.

The amount of yarn was very generous, so I have some to add to stash. The idea of buying a kit was not to do that… but I can’t begrudge it, the end result is too cute.

She is a little wonky. Her ossibules (not horns, and that’s one of my favourite word facts) are coming and going, and one arm is reaching forward more than the other. For a hug, of course. She curves to one side. But I think she’s charming, kind of like a kid’s drawing, no?

The pattern picture shows the arms pointing down, but I like them better this way. Also there is a tiny tail!

The ‘hell for leather’ attitude extended to not spending much time on photos, either

She was made as a baby gift – I’m not sure when she’ll be delivered (someone will be handing it over for me) but I hope she is good company for that wee pal.

The game you can just see is SETI

At time of writing, these Wild Bunch crochet kits from Hello Crafts are on sale at £4 each. I have to say that I got more than £4 worth of enjoyment out of making this one.
