I had some yarn left over from the space jumper and I decided to make a hat to go with it.
I also had some Feels Like Butta yarn – half a ball each in red and orange. It’s a very soft, warm, polyester yarn that I thought would be great to line a hat with.

The orange was a nicer match (plus kind of suggests the sun? Is that a stretch?) so I cast on for my second Musselburgh (link to my first Musselburgh) in a child/small adult size.
The first time, I felt like the pattern was a long stretch of knitting and, being honest, I got a bit bored. This time, with 4mm needles, I finished it in two days. Admittedly they were two days of mostly knitting and nothing else, but still! Two days!

I was committed to using up all the orange, then starting the black tweed, so I knew that the hat wouldn’t be exactly 50/50 in the two colours. That would have been a remarkable coincidence. I was happy that the brim might be all orange, all black, or a mix of the two. In the end it was about half and half.

It’s been sent off in the post and, even though it’s not hat weather any more (at least not right now), since it fits me fine I’m sure it’ll for the recipient host for years to come!
