We had our work Christmas do on Thursday, which included an optional Secret Santa gift swap. Last year I opted out, thinking I was likely to receive something generic that I’d want to regift instantly, possibly to a charity shop. Sounds cynical when I write it down but perhaps you know what I mean? It can be hard to buy for a colleague and novelty gifts often seem a good solution.

Then I saw how thoughtful everyone’s gifts turned out and I wanted in on that action! I put a couple of suggestions out there, which of course included wool, and lo and behold my Santa came up with the goods.

I’m excited to make my first pair of socks, and the needles are on their way! I plan to follow Winwick Mum’s Super Sockalong (which boasts over 18,000 successful socks made) but am open to other options.
I got my recipient a few bits I thought they’d like, and they were actually delighted and said ‘this person knows me so well!’. So even though I had to keep a straight face and not give the game away I had a lovely warm feeling. Win/win.
